east coast adventure 1st stop: bean town

awesome leather rings from salmagundi

so i just went to back to boston a couple weekends ago to go to my high school reunion and catch up with some friends. while i was there enjoying the fall weather i also found a couple cool new spots that are worth checking out when you are in the area.

the liberty hotel is a new spot that was converted from an old prison into a stylish boutique hotel with a few bars & a restaurant. we met friends in the lobby bar "clink" also the main restaurant and had a blast. the architects (cambridge seven) & the interior designer (champalimaud) did a nice job of carrying the prison theme through while warming the space and making it inviting. the large ceilings were impressive and i absolutly loved the large chandelier light fixtures. i am also a huge sucker for brick and they had an interesting san blasting pattern on portions of it that were quite successful. the service was great. our hostess was very accommodating when our large group wanted to move around furniture to create more seating. they also had some interesting drinks. i was a fan of the hydrate which pretty much tasted like a watermelon smoothie and boasted that it was under 150 calories. quite refreshing in many ways!

if you happen to be visiting boston and are in need of a hat sneak over to my new favorite hat store salmagundi. it's located on a hip little street in jamaica plain. we came upon it on a sunday afternoon and i fell in love. first of all if you are into hats this is the place. they are the hat gurus-even convincing the one "non hat person" of the group to purchase a beautiful purple tweed cap that the sales man retrieved had from the back of the shop after hearing about her hat phobia. i fell in love with this little black wool hat that i tried on-apparently it was the "mercedes" of hats and priced the same so it did not come home with me. other than hats they have amazing accessories & unique clothing finds. definitely worth the trip!
